FAQ

What should I look for in a therapist?

It is essential for you to choose a therapist who makes you feel comfortable and relaxed and whose manner puts you ease.  One who makes you feel safe and supported, someone who you feel you can form a personable connection with.

It is important to choose a therapist who is appropriately qualified and uses the most relevant techniques and up to date methods to suit your individual needs.  It is important that they are flexible in their approach and tailor their treatment program to address the actual cause and not just the symptoms if you want to experience long-lasting and permanent change.

What can I expect at my first consultation?

During the initial consultation the therapist will discuss with you the nature of the issue you are experiencing, and your background and history in order to develop a clear understanding of your needs, expectations and goals for therapy. At the end of the first consultation, the therapist may suggest a suitable plan of action and provide an estimated time frame for therapy based on your needs, expectations and goals for therapy.

How long do the sessions go for?

Allow for 1 ½ hoursfor the initial consultation. Subsequent sessions are typically one hour in duration.

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions required will be dependent upon the complexity of the issue you are facing, and on your needs and goals for therapy. Each person is unique so our treatment options are flexible and are adapted to suit your specific needs. Short term plans are available as well as longer-term plans where the issues are more complex. During your initial consultation, the therapist will provide you with guidance and suggestions you need to decide which is the most suitable treatment plan for you, along with approximate times frames for therapy.

How much do sessions cost?

The cost of an individual session is $120. However, we do offer packages of 3, 5, 7 or 10 sessions for $330, $550, $770 and $1100 respectively.

Can I use a mental health care plan?

No. Mental health care plans are offered by the Australian Government through the Medicare rebate system and provided by GP’s to people wishing to seek the services of a psychologist.

What payment options do you have available?

Payments are received up front and at the time of the session via cash, EFTPOS (2% surcharge applies) or internet transfer.
